Loggers ready for Tuesday game against the team from Parkland

TACOMA, Washington – Following just one day of rest, the Puget Sound baseball team travels south to Parkland, Washington, for a non-conference game at Pacific Lutheran Tuesday, Feb. 26. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Sophomore Kyle Strash, the reigning West Region Rookie of the Year, continues to demonstrate an advanced approach. The second baseman ranks seventh in the NWC for on-base percentage (.464) after leading the conference in the category a year ago (.524). Strash drew three walks against Willamette Sunday, and he has two multi-hit games so far this season.

 

Two baggers

Puget Sound has the third-most doubles this season with 19 in nine games. Jack Gries and Mason Quinlan are tied for tops on the team with three doubles, each.

 

Ribeye

Jack Gries and Hunter Riley are tied for the team lead in RBI with six each. Gries' bat came alive during the weekend Willamette series, as he hit  5-for-11 with two doubles and four RBI.

 

Scouting the Lutes (6-4, 2-1 NWC)

Pacific Lutheran opened its NWC schedule by winning two out of three home games against George Fox. PLU's .393 on-base percentage is second in the NWC. Jacob Bockelie already has three home runs this season, while freshman Andy Schmitz is hitting .417 through his first 36 at-bats of the season.
