NWC baseball schedule resumes at George Fox

TACOMA, Washington – Following a non-conference game earlier this week, the Puget Sound baseball team resumes its Northwest Conference schedule at George Fox this weekend, March 2-3.

Who's down with OBP?

After leading the NWC in on-base percentage (.524) as a freshman last year, Puget Sound second baseman Kyle Strash currently ranks fifth in the NWC with a .467 on-base percentage.

 

Double trouble

Jack Gries and Mason Quinlan are tied for the third-most doubles in the NWC with four, each. Gries has hit a double in four of his last five games.

 

Going streaking

Mason Quinlan enters this weekend with a nine-game hitting streak, and his .343 batting average leads Puget Sound.

 

Freshman impact

A few first-year Loggers have already made an impact for Puget Sound. Owen Shellhammer earned a victory on the mound, and Nate Kloempken has a save to his credit. Clayton Waltz has caught four games so far, and his has three RBI in 11 at-bats.  

 

Scouting George Fox (4-6, 1-2 NWC)

The Bruins were picked by NWC head coaches as the preseason favorite to win the conference in 2019. George Fox enters this weekend leading the NWC in hitting (.299), slugging percentage (.427), home runs (6), and runs (80). Pitching has been a weak spot for the Bruins, as the team holds a 6.02 ERA. Kyle Brudwick and Jerred Seamons are tied for the team lead in RBI (11).
