NEWBERG, Oregon – Mason Quinlan reached base in all five of his plate appearances, but the Puget Sound baseball team lost its three-game series finale at George Fox, 10-6, Sunday afternoon.
Quinlan went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles for the Loggers (2-11, 1-5 NWC). One of those doubles came with the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth inning. Quinlan's other two-base hit started off the top of the eighth inning, but he was left stranded on base.
Quinlan also drew three walks in the game against the Bruins (7-6, 4-2 NWC). So far this season, he leads the Loggers in hitting (.333) and doubles (6).
George Fox held a 3-0 lead through three innings, but the Loggers struck for a pair of runs in the fourth. Jack Gries led off with a single to left-center field, and Sean Rooney moved him into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt.
Puget Sound returns to Logger field for a three-game series against Pacific Lutheran, starting March 9.
