TACOMA, Washington – Sophomore quarterback Murdock Rutledge and freshman kicker/punter Alex Everett both received Northwest Conference awards following the Puget Sound football team's 56-28 victory at La Verne (Sept. 15).
Rutledge became the third consecutive Logger to receive NWC Student-Athlete of the Week for offense. He torched the Leopards for 359 yards and five touchdowns before sitting for the final 21 minutes of the game. Rutledge was also named the Logger of the Week earlier this week.
Everett received NWC Student-Athlete of the Week for special teams. He was perfect in his extra-point attempts at La Verne, connecting on all eight. He also averaged 54.5 yards per punt, including a 75-yard missile. Finally, Everett averaged 55.3 yards through nine kickoffs.
Everett is the first Logger to receive the NWC special teams nod since Sawyer Petre '16 during the 2015 season.
The 2-1 Loggers have a bye week before hosting Pacific Lutheran during Homecoming and Family Weekend, Sept. 29. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
