TACOMA, Washington – The most impressive number associated with Jewell Day's junior year at Puget Sound isn't 1,016 – his receiving yards for the 2018 football season. It's not 14 – his Northwest Conference-leading touchdown receptions this fall. And it's not 16.7 – his conference-best yards-per-reception.
The most impressive number associated with Day is 3.40. That's his cumulative GPA while double-majoring in computer science and math, with a minor in physics.
Day was named to the Google Cloud All-District Academic Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday. Day was also named to the All-NWC First Team earlier this week.
Day's breakout junior season included four games with 100+ receiving yards. He had a career-best 163 receiving yards against Redlands (Sept. 8), and he nearly matched that mark with 154 receiving yards against No. 23 Linfield (Nov. 3). Day also totaled five multi-touchdown games.
A two-sport student-athlete, Day is currently active with the Puget Sound men's basketball team.
