Seniors Thrive On Senior Night, Loggers Stay In Second Place

TACOMA, Wash. – The seniors took over on Senior Night for the Puget Sound men's basketball team in an 85-72 win over George Fox. Three seniors combined for 46 points to lead the Loggers (18-5, 10-4 NWC) to a key win in Northwest Conference play.

Kaleb Shelton-Johnson celebrated senior night with 20 points, six rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots. Anthony Gittens added 16 points and eight rebounds and Julian Fernandez chipped in 10 points and two assists.

The Loggers broke the game open early, building a quick 21-9 lead in the first half. They rode the momentum to a 42-28 halftime lead and never trailed in the game. Riggs Yarbro sparked the offensive outburst with 10 of his 14 points in the opening half.

Anthony Sanchez almost single-handedly kept the Bruins (11-11, 8-5 NWC) in the game, scoring a game-high 27 points. Sean Atkins scored 20 points in the game.

The Bruins pushed back in the second half, cutting the lead to 10 points on a Jon Adrian three-pointer. However, the Loggers were able to keep a double -digit lead the rest of the way en route to the win.

Senior Edric Egberaure and Matt Geverola also contributed to win as Egberaure dished out three assists and Geverola tallied seven points.

With the win, the Loggers keep their claim to second place in the NWC and in line to host an NWC semifinal game.

The Loggers head down to Oregon next week to wrap up the season at Linfield and Lewis & Clark.
