Men's basketball game at Warner Pacific canceled

The Puget Sound men's basketball team's game at Warner Pacific (scheduled for Dec. 18) has been canceled due to the train derailment and highway closure just south of Tacoma. Our hearts are with those affected by the tragic event Monday morning.


TACOMA, Washington – Following a two-week break from competition, the Puget Sound men's basketball team returns to the hardwood at Warner Pacific on Monday, Dec. 18, for a 7 p.m. tipoff.

Statistical ranks

The Loggers rank nationally in several team statistics. They are fourth in the NCAA D-III for 3-pointers made (120), seventh in total steals (119), and sixth in points per game (101.6). Jimmy Wohrer is ninth in the country with 37 3-pointers made.


Wohrer's way

Jimmy Wohrer leads the Northwest Conference in scoring with 23.0 points per game. He achieves great scoring outputs despite playing a modest 21.3 minutes per game.

Nate Vieria has been a defensive stalwart, as his 2.4 steals per game rank third in the NWC.


Receiving votes

Puget Sound has received votes in consecutive weeks for the Top 25 national poll.


National test

The Loggers are 1-2 against nationally-ranked teams so far this year. Puget Sound beat No. 15 Claremont-M-S, 87-74, but lost to No. 13 Whitworth (95-84), and nearly upset No. 1 Whitman (111-108).


Scouting Warner Pacific (10-3, 5-0 CCC)

The Knights hold a No. 25 national rank and they compete in the Cascade Collegiate Conference of the NAIA. The Loggers and Knights have wins over their one common opponent – Evergreen St. Warner Pacific narrowly beat NWC member Lewis & Clark, 91-90 (Nov. 15). Xavier Cannefax leads Warner Pacific in scoring with 17.0 points per game, and De'Jon Bowman is the team's leading rebounder (8.9).
