Puget Sound prepares for quick four-game stretch

What lies ahead

Following Friday night's game in Portland, the Loggers return to Memorial Fieldhouse Monday, Dec. 17, to host Concordia-Chicago. The following day, Puget Sound competes at NCAA D-II member Central Washington (Dec. 18). The Loggers will get some rest Wednesday (Dec. 19) before hosting Benedictine (Ill.) Thursday (Dec. 20.


Wohrer still having his way

The 2017-18 Northwest Conference leading scorer is once again at the top of the scoring charts in the NWC. After leading the NWC in scoring with 22.2 points per game last year, senior Jimmy Wohrer is tops in the conference so far this season with 22.6 points per game.


Stellan the game

Junior Stellan Roberts is filling up the stat sheet on a nightly basis. He's one of only two NWC players thanks among the top 12 in scoring, rebounding, and assists. Roberts in 12th in the NWC in scoring (15.6), fourth in assists (4.3), and ninth in rebounding (6.3). He nearly tallied a triple-double at George Fox (Dec. 1) with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists.


Cal crashes boards

Freshman Cal Hansen is the NWC's fourth-leading rebounder with 7.7 boards per game. He totaled a season-high 17 rebounds at George Fox (Dec. 1). Although he's been dominant on the glass, Hansen is still looking to notch his first career double-double.


That's accurate

Puget Sound continues to be the NWC's most accurate 3-point shooting team, as the Loggers enter this weekend with a 46.2 percent mark from distance. Jimmy Wohrer has made 34 3-pointers on 63 attempts (54 percnent), and Gabriel Chaikin is 29-for-61 (51.7 percent) from beyond the arc. Stellan Roberts is shooting 44.7 percent from distance (17-for-38).


Scouting Warner Pacific (8-3, 2-1 Collegiate Cascade Conference)

The Knights enter Friday's game with two wins in their last three contests, including wins over Evegreen State and Northwest. Warner Pacific also has a win over Northwest Conference member Lewis & Clark. The Knights are averaging 83.0 points per game while shooting 48.4 percent from the floor. Collin Malcolm is the team's leading scorer with 18.7 points per game, and he also leads the team in rebounding (7.7).


Scouting Concordia-Chicago (2-5, 2-4 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference)

The Cougars have lost three consecutive games, but they will play Benedictine (Ill.) Saturday, Dec. 15, before coming to Tacoma. The squad is averaging 90.6 points per game, but opponents are netting 95.3 points. Mitch Pelissier averages 20.3 points per game, and Jalen Meeks is right on his heels with 20.2 points per game. The Cougars are shooting better from 3-point range (36.7 percent) than they are overall from the floor (33.4 percent).
