Men's basketball heads to Parkland this Tuesday

TACOMA, Washington – Following its most challenging weekend of the season,  the Puget Sound men's basketball team heads to Parkland, Washington for an 8 p.m. game at Pacific Lutheran Tuesday, Jan. 22.

A weekend at the Whits

The Loggers  went up against top-10 nationally ranked teams this past weekend. The Loggers lost at No. 6 Whitworth, 98-84, and fell at No. 4 Whitman, 115=81.


The thrown of threes

Jimmy Wohrer holds the Puget Sound record for 3-pointers in a season (104), which he achieved last year. The senior is approaching the school record for 3-pointers in career. Wohrer has made 258 3-pointers in his Logger career, and Chase Curtiss holds the record at 275.


Pick your poison

Four Loggers average double figures in scoring. Jimmy Wohrer is the Northwest Conference's third-leading scorer with 19.9 points per game. Stellan Roberts follows with 14.5 points per game, while Cal Hansen (12.8) and Gabriel Chaikin (12.1) are regular contributors.


Beasting conference foes

Freshman Cal Hansen is averaging 14.4 points and 9.0 rebounds through eight conference games this season. He is also shooting 65.0 percent from the floor against NWC teams. Overall, Hansen's 62.6 field-goal percentage ranks second in the NWC, and his 9.1 rebounds per game rank third.



Despite recent struggles, Puget Sound continues to lead the NWC in 3-point percentage (41.4 percent). The team's 75.0 free-throw percentage is also tops in the NWC.


Scouting Pacific Lutheran (6-10, 3-5 NWC)

The Lutes enter Tuesday's game with three consecutive losses. PLU is the conference's lowest scoring team, averaging just 72.7 points per game. The Lutes are also last in rebounding (34.3), and second-to-last in turnovers per game (16.4).
