Wohrer sets school record, Chaikin scores 30 in Logger win

PORTLAND, Oregon – Jimmy Wohrer set a Puget Sound career record, and Gabriel Chaikin scored a career-high 30 points during the men's basketball team's 97-85 at Lewis & Clark Friday night. 

Early in the second half, Wohrer hit his 276th career 3-pointer, surpassing Chase Curtis' record of 275 made 3-pointers in a Logger career. Overall, Wohrer scored 12 points during the Loggers' win over the Pioneers (7-15, 3-10 NWC).

Chaikin put the Loggers (11-11, 7-6 NWC) on his back in the second half. The senior guard netted 23 points in the final 20 minutes, shooting 9-for-10 from the floor in the period. Chaikin's scoring has increased in each of the last four games. He netted 14 points against George Fox (Jan. 25), 19 points against Linfield (Feb. 1), and 26 points against Pacific (Feb. 2).

Puget Sound overcame a 45-39 halftime deficit to win its third consecutive game. During the second half, the Loggers shot 20-for-30 from the floor and 12-for-16 from 3-point range.

Freshman Cal Hansen tallied his seventh double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Stellan Roberts tied his season-high in scoring with 23 points.

The Loggers remain on the road to play at Willamette Saturday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m.
