TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's basketball team placed four All-Northwest Conference honorees, the NWC announced Tuesday. It's the program's most All-NWC selections in a single season since 2008-09.
Jimmy Wohrer was named to the All-NWC First Team for the second consecutive year, while Stellan Roberts earned a Second Team nod. Both Gabriel Chaikin and Cal Hansen were named All-NWC Honorable Mention, with Hansen receiving All-NWC Freshman of the Year.
Wohrer concluded the regular season averaging 20.5 points per game, which ranked second in the NWC. He was 0.1 points per game away from repeating as the NWC's scoring champion. Earlier this month, Wohrer became Puget Sound's all-time leader in made 3-pointers.
Roberts ranked 11th in scoring in NWC (15.1), and he was a top contributor in multiple facets. He tied for the third-most assists per game (4.2), ranked 11th in rebounding (5.9), and finished third in free-throw percentage (85.4 percent).
Chaikin went on a tear through the last six games of the season, averaging 19.3 points through that stretch. Overall, his 46.6 3-point percentage ranked fifth in the NWC.
Hansen rounded out his rookie campaign as the conference's second-leading rebounder (9.8). His 59.1 field-goal percentage ranked seventh. He had seven double-doubles during the season.
The Loggers begin the postseason at Whitman Thursday, Feb. 21, for the first round of the NWC Tournament. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
