WALLA WALLA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's basketball team's second consecutive appearance in the Northwest Conference Tournament came to an end at No. 2 Whitman Thursday night. The Blues beat the Loggers, 128-81.
Stellan Roberts came up one rebound shy of a double-double for the Loggers. He netted 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds, both of which led the Loggers. Senior Jimmy Wohrer scored 21 points, and classmate Gabriel Chaikin finished with 12.
First-year head coach Aubrey Shelton and his staff led the Loggers to an improbable bid for the postseason. Needing a win in their final game of the regular season, Puget Sound stunned No. 12 Whitworth, 87-72, in Memorial Fieldhouse to clinch a playoff berth (Feb. 16).
