TACOMA, Wash. – Ryan Rash scored the Loggers first goal of the season in the 87th minute to lift the Puget Sound men's soccer team over Montclair St. on Saturday.
The Loggers (1-2) broke the scoring silence when Eneko Bereziartua sent a cross from the far side into the box. Rash put one touch on the ball and lifted it over the goalkeeper's reach and into the back of the net.
Montclaire St. held a 12-9 advantage on shots but only put one goal, which was saved by Chris McDonald. The Loggers put two shots on goal with Anthony Rogic earning one save as well.
Rash's goal was his first of the 2011 season and the Loggers first of the 2011 season. After back-to-back road shutouts last week the Loggers finally broke through for the victory at home, extending their undefeated home streak to 11.
The Loggers open up NWC play next week when the host Willamette at 2:30 p.m. on East Field on Saturday.
