TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's soccer team is set to open its Northwest Conference schedule this weekend. The Loggers (2-3) will host Pacific (2-3) Saturday, September 19, before welcoming George Fox (3-3) Sunday, September 20. Both games are scheduled to kick-off at 2:30 p.m. at Peyton Field.
Puget Sound's Last Weekend
The Loggers finished their non-conference schedule last weekend when they lost 1-0 to Mary-Hardin Baylor and 2-0 to UMass-Boston.
Puget Sound will honor the parents of their student-athletes at halftime of Saturday's match.
Cameron Lorek leads Puget Sound in goals scored. The sophomore forward has recorded three goals. Tristan Stevenson leads the squad with two assists. Goalkeeper Daniel Kirsch is 2-2 on the year, making 13 saves with a 1.06 goals-against average.
Scouting the Boxers
Pacific University is located in Forest Grove, Oregon, and the team competes in the Northwest Conference. Most recently, the Boxers fell to UC Santa Cruz by a 3-1 score. Overall, Pacific is 2-3 in 2015. Matt Kimball leads the squad with two goals, while Elan Yogi has recorded two assists this year. Goalkeeper Leyton Thommasen (2-3) has made 18 saves and has one shutout, while putting up a 2.20 goals-against average.
Scouting the Bruins
George Fox University is located in Newberg, Oregon, and the team competes in the Northwest Conference. In their last game, the Bruins defeated Trinity Lutheran 4-0. The squad is 3-3 in 2015, alternating wins and losses. Luis Rangel and Jose Becerra have two goals to lead George Fox, while Joab Logan and Trevor Martin have two assists. Goalkeeper Ricardo Sotelo is 3-0, making 13 saves without allowing a goal. Murray Noble is 0-3, with seven allowed goals and 21 saves.
