TACOMA, Washington – Four Loggers had multiple-hit games, but the Puget Sound softball team lost both games of a Sunday doubleheader at home against Linfield.
Puget Sound 2, Linfield 11
The Wildcats (6-3, 4-0 NWC) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Loggers (2-11-1, 0-4 NWC) got a run back in the bottom of the frame. Mackensie Pearlstein and Jessica Gott both drew walks, and Pearlstein advanced to third on a passed ball. Erica Gott lifted a sac fly to centerfield that allowed Pearlstein to score the Loggers' first run.
Puget Sound 3, Linfield 9
Linfield put up three runs in the third inning and six more in the fifth. Puget Sound got one run in each of the third, fourth, and fifth innings.
Jessica Gott's double in the third inning scored Lia Nakamoto, and McKenna Johnson came through with an RBI double of her down in the fourth. Camille Good smacked an RBI single in the fifth inning, plating Mackensie Pearlstein.
Pearlstein went 2-for-3 from the leadoff spot, and Marissa hit 2-for-3 with a run. Pearlstein, a freshman, is leading the Loggers in hitting with a .400 batting average.
The Loggers' next game is March 10 when Puget Sound hosts Whitworth.
