SALEM, Oregon – Kelsie Sullivan was dominant in the circle for the Puget Sound softball team, striking out a career-high 10 batters in the first game of a doubleheader at Willamette Saturday afternoon. However, the Loggers lost the first game, 3-1. Puget Sound nearly surmounted a late comeback in the second game, but the Bearcats held on for a 5-3 win.
During the second game, Puget Sound was down 5-2 entering the seventh inning, but the Loggers put the potential tying run at the plate. Kelsie Sullivan smacked a one-out double, and Abbi Wong drove her home with an RBI single through the left side. However, Willamette got the next two Loggers to pop out to end the game.
The Loggers also pushed a run across the plate in the seventh inning of the first game. After reaching base on an error, Abby Brondos got into scoring on another error. She came in to score Puget Sound's lone run thanks to an RBI single by Mckenna Johnson.
