WALLA WALLA, Washington – The Puget Sound swim teams wrapped up its road trip at the "Whits" with losses at Whitman on Saturday afternoon. The Missionaries topped the Logger women, 129-76, and beat the Logger men, 151-53.
The Puget Sound women's team opened the meet by winning the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:12.24 (Sam Anders, Ally Hembree, Auri Clark, Alex Koga). Clark placed second in the 200 individual medley (2:17.63), and Anders also came in second in the 200 backstroke (2:16.52).
Carmen Mena claimed second place in the 1,000 freestyle (11:22.21), and Melisa Kegans took second in the 200 freestyle (2:02.46). Grace Lawson (56.45) and Kegans (56.55) finished second and third, respectively, in the 100 freestyle). Freshman Kristian Kotchik won the 200 butterfly by touching the wall in 2:20.44.
Keven Henley won the 200 backstroke (1:59.38) and placed second in the 50 freestyle (22.08) to pick up 13 points for the Logger men. Nick Mitchell captured second-place finishes in both the 1,000 freestyle (10:03.11) and 500 freestyle (4:53.12).
Puget Sound returns to Wallace Pool on Jan. 30 to host crosstown rival Pacific Lutheran at 1 p.m.
