Puget Sound comes up short at Whitman

WALLA WALLA, Washington – The Puget Sound swim teams returned to Northwest Conference action at Whitman, but the Logger women lost to the Blues, 128-77, and the Logger men lost, 131-71.


The Puget Sound women opened the meet by winning the 400-yard medley relay in 4:09.13. Aza Verhoeven, Kelli Callahan, Calista Skog, and Melisa Kegans were on the winning team. Callahan also won the 200-IM by timing in at 2:10.89, and she was victorious in the 200-butterfly (2:17.51). Skog took second in the 50-freestyle (25.71), and Verhoeven was second in the 200-backstroke (2:18.49).

On the men's side, Nick Mitchell won both the 500-freestyle (5:01.84) and the 1,000-freestyle (10:19.01). Dylan Reimers took second in both the 200-freestyle (1:49.29) and the 200 backstroke (2:01.24).

The Loggers remain on the road to take on Whitworth, Saturday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m.
