FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Improving her seed times to win both the 800m and 1500m runs, Hayley Walker (Cambria, Calif./Coast Union) led the way for the Puget Sound Loggers at the Pacific Luau Meet on Saturday at Lincoln Park Stadium in Forest Grove, Ore.
In the 800m run, Walker posted a time of 2:23.04 to edge past teammate Nika Evans (Wayzata, Minn.) to win the race with the third quickest time in the Northwest Conference this season. In the 1500m run, Walker again improved her seed time, finishing race in 4:52.48 to win the race with the sixth quickest time in NWC this year. Walker also ran in the 4x400m relay as the Loggers won the race with a time of 4:11.82.
In the men's long jump, freshman Michael Haas (Cupertino, Calif./Kings Academy) tied his season best of 19-6.75 to win the event by eight inches. Sophomore Wiley Putnam (Seattle, Wash./Overlake) took second in the 400m dash with a season-best 50.36, the fifth quickest time in the conference this season. Freshman pole vaulter Travis Stull (Dallas, Texas/Greenhill) improved his season-best mark by two centimeters, clearing 4.27m to tie for second.
A select group of Loggers will be in action again on Monday as the NWC Multi-Event Championship begins at 10:00 a.m. in Forest Grove. The remainder of the Logger team will be in action again next weekend at the Spike Arlt Invitational in Ellensburg, Wash.
