Logger Women Set Three School Records At Bronco Open

TACOMA, Wash. - For the second-straight meet junior Andrea Leiken broke her own school record in the 400 with a 1:01.17 at the Bronco Open in Nampa, Idaho on Saturday. Leiken originally set the record in 2010 and broke it last week at UW with a 1:02.23. She also set the school record in the meet for the 200m with a 26.81, breaking a three-year old record of 27.31.

The third school record also featured Leiken as she was the first leg of the 4x400 relay that came across the finish line in 4:19. Meg Gilbertson, Brenda Seymour and Alicia Burns rounded out the team. Carrie Keith was the top finisher in the mile with a 5:40 while Maggie Rowe led the team in the high jump with a mark of 4-11.

On the men's side, Daniel Clarke was the top finisher for the Loggers in the 60m (7.68) and the 200m (24.22). Matt Heflin posted a season-high of 56.04 in the 400m, two seconds better than his seeded time. In the 800m, Sean Tyree and Bryan Soto nearly crossed the line together at 2:03.45 and 2:03.66, respectively. The 4x400 relay team of Trey Chenier, Sean Tyree, Michael Hass and Soto finished with a 3:36.12. Hass also led the way in the long jump, flying 19-09.00.

"Overall it was a good meet for us and we are looking forward to the UW meet next week," said head coach Mike Orechia.

The Loggers will head to the UW Open on Feb. 13 in Seattle.
