SPOKANE, Wash. – Andrea Leiken and Joe Cerne took to the track one final time on Wednesday before the announcement of the NCAA Championship field on Sunday.
Andrea Leiken ran the 400-meter dash but stumbled just prior to the finish line, crossing at 1:01.52 to take first among the four competitors.
Cerne also competed in three events as his spot in the NCAA Decathlon appears secure at the moment. Cerne ran a 17.00 in the 110-meter hurdles, which was just off of his personal-best. He also cleared 12-feet, 11.50-inches in the pole vault.
Leiken currently ranks 21st in Division III in the 400-meter while Cerne ranks 15th in the decathlon. The announcement of the NCAA field will be made on Sunday, May 20.
The NCAA Championships will take place May 24-26 in Claremont, Calif.
