Loggers earn eight top-three finishes in Boitano Invitational

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's and women's track & field teams earned several top-three finishes during the Loggers' Ed Boitano Invitational in Baker Stadium Saturday afternoon.


Ryan Sutherland and Jack Monaghan finished one-two in the men's 400-m dash. Sutherland crossed the finish line in 52.08 seconds, and Monoghan timed in at 52.53 seconds. 

Isaac Fournier was second in the men's 800-m run with a time of 1:59.00. Cody DeWitt placed fifth in the event by finishing in 2:04.21. DeWitt was fifth in the 1,500-m run with a time of 4:09.60.

Colin Monaghan placed third in the men's 10,000-m run (31:37.13), less than 14 seconds behind the first-place runner from NCAA D-II Western Washington.

In women's events, Rachael Metzler tied for third in the 800-m run by crossing the finish line in 2:28.65. Lura Morton placed fourth out of 13 runners in the women's 100-m dash, posting a time of 13.63 seconds. 

Hannah Cottnair and Megan Stills finished back-to-back in the women's 400-m dash. Cottnair placed third with a time of 1:07.90, and Stills was fourth with a time of 1:11.98. 

Sydney Denham finished fourth out of 15 competitors in the women's high jump, as she cleared 1.52 meters.

The Logger women placed fifth as a team (53.5), and the men finished seventh (51.0). Western Washington placed first in both the men's and women's final team standings. 

The Logger teams next compete in Parkland, Washington during the Pacific Lutheran Invitational, March 9.
