TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound women's basketball team fell 71-53 to George Fox on Saturday in the final game of the 2012-13 season. The Loggers (14-11, 7-9 NWC) celebrated the careers of Sarah Stewart, Lindsay Layland and Kelsey McKinnis prior to the game.
McKinnis finished the game with 14 points to finish her career in sixth on the Loggers' all-time scoring list. Stewart finished with four points and six rebounds and Layland had three points to two rebounds in the effort.
The Loggers hung around early but shooting woes caught up to them midway through the first half as George Fox pulled away. The Bruins ended up finishing the game shooting 49.1 percent while the Loggers shot just 25.8 percent on the night.
The Loggers found themselves down 14 with 3:35 left to go in the first half but found a little burst to climb back in the game before the half. A McKinnis three sparked a 7-0 run to end the half as the Loggers trailed 34-27.
The teams traded blows over the first few minutes but a layup from Megan Hayes pushed the lead back to double digits and the Bruins continued to pull away for the win.
Megan Arnoldy led the Bruins with 21 points while Hannah Munger pitched in 15 points and eight rebounds.
The Loggers season came to a close with the loss on Saturday and will open back up next November.
