Jackson's historic game leads to Logger of the Week honor

TACOMA, Washington – Women's basketball sophomore guard Samone Jackson scored a career-high 37 points at Linfield to earn Logger Club Logger of the Week.

Jackson's scoring outburst on Jan. 28 is the second highest single-game total in Puget Sound history. Puget Sound Hall-of-Famer Kristina Goos holds the Logger record with 41 points against Central Washington during the 1995-96 season.

Jackson shot 60.9 percent from the floor (14-for-23) and 53.8 percent (7-for-13) from 3-point range in 36 minutes against the Wildcats. No. 12/13 Puget Sound earned a 96-77 victory for its 11th consecutive win.

Jackson also scored 16 points during the Loggers' 83-76 win at No. 24/24 George Fox on Jan. 27. It was the Loggers' first win over the Bruins in Newberg, Oregon, since March 3, 2007, and Puget Sound's second victory over George Fox this year. Jackson is the Northwest Conference's second-leading scorer with 17.2 points per game.

The Loggers (18-1, 11-0 NWC) are back on the road Friday, Feb. 3, for a 6 p.m. tipoff at Lewis & Clark.
