Women's basketball to play two games in Hawaii

TACOMA, Washington – It may sound like vacation, but the Puget Sound women's basketball team has plenty of work on its hands when it plays two games in Honolulu, Hawaii as part of the Street Shine Invitational. The Loggers take on Whittier (Dec. 19) and Chapman (Dec. 20) this week. Northwest Conference member George Fox is also part of the invitational.

Welcome to the club

Senior Elizabeth Prewitt netted her 1,000th career points during the Loggers' 61-39 win over Nichols (Dec. 15), and she was named the Logger Club Logger of the Week. Click HERE for more information.


Lange doubles up

Jamie Lange has a double-double in each game of the Loggers' three-game winning streak. She had 10 points and 15 rebounds against Evergreen State (Dec. 5), 11 points and 13 rebounds against Nichols (Dec. 15), and 17 points and 19 rebounds against Caltech (Dec. 16). Lange ranks second in the NWC with 11.0 boards per game.


Picking her spots

RaeAnn Allen has shot 50 percent or better in each five of her last six games. During that six-game stretch, Allen is shooting 53.3 percent for 10.3 points per game in 27.3 minutes per contest.


Biggest on the boards

Puget Sound leads the Northwest Conference in rebounding with 44.3 boards per game. In addition to Jamie Lange ranking second in the NWC with 11.0 rebounds per game, two others Loggers rank in the top 20: Elizabeth Prewitt (5.6) and RaeAnn Allen (5.1).


Scouting Whittier (5-1, 2-1 SCIAC)

The Poets enter the Street Shine Invitational having alternated wins and losses through their last five games. Whittier has wins this season over NWC teams Linfield and Pacific. The Poets' defense is limited opponents to just 50.2 points per game on 31.3 percent shooting. Cali Cubel is the team's leading scorer with 15.0 points per game, and Laura Stroud leads the team in rebounding with 8.0 boards per game.


Scouting Chapman (6-1, 3-1 SCIAC)

The Panthers' lone loss this season was a close one against Cal Lutheran, 58-55. Chapman beat NWC member Linfield earlier this season. The Panthers are scoring 69.0 points per game, while connecting on 14.4 3-pointers per contest. Lucy Criswell (16.9) and Jaryn Fajardo (16.0) are the team's top scorers. Fajardo is tops in rebounding with 7.0 boards per game, and she averages 7.1 assists.
