TACOMA, Washington – Jamie Lange tallied her ninth double-double of the season, and Mara Henderson continued to have a hot hand as the Puget Sound women's basketball team beat Pacific, 63-58, in Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday evening.
Lange amassed 16 points and 15 rebounds against the Boxers (7-14, 1-11 NWC). One day after shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point range during a win against Linfield, Henderson was 4-for-7 from distance during the Puget Sound (16-4, 9-3 NWC) win over Pacific.
The Loggers held a 34-28 lead at halftime, but Pacific battled back to tie the game, 40-40, late in the third quarter. RaeAnn Allen broke the tie with a 3-pointer, and Puget Sound held the lead for the rest of the game.
Pacific got within one point, 57-56, with one minute left in regulation. However, a layup by Lange, a defensive stand, and two free-throws by Elizabeth Prewitt put the game out of reach.
Henderson finished with 12 points, marking the first time this season that she scored in double figures in consecutive games. Prewitt finished with 13 points.
The Loggers are on the road for two games next week, starting with Lewis & Clark Friday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m.
