Cheatham's goal allows Loggers to grow first-place lead

TACOMA, Washington – Genevieve Cheatham scored the game's only goal in the 76th minute to propel the Puget Sound women's soccer team to a 1-0 home win against Lewis & Clark Sunday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half, Puget Sound (10-4-2, 9-1-2 NWC) opened the second period with a more aggressive approach. Gabbie Berg and Lura Morton both put shots on goal within the first three minutes of the second half, the Pioneer (1-10-1, 3-11-2 NWC) goalkeeper was there to make the stop both times.

Less than 20 minutes later, Erin Brosnan carried the ball down the sideline and put a perfect cross in front of the net. Cheatham was there to head in her third goal of the season. 

Jamie Lange made six saves against Lewis & Clark, marking the seventh time this fall that she has held the opposition scoreless.

Puget Sound is back at home for two games next week, starting with Pacific on Saturday, Oct. 27.
