Women's soccer returns to Texas for NCAA Championship

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's soccer team will begin its postseason in the same state where it began the regular season: Texas. Puget Sound's 2018 NCAA D-III Championship run begins in Abilene, Texas, the NCAA announced Monday.

The Loggers (13-5-2) will take on host Hardin-Simmons (16-1-1) in the first round of the NCAA D-III Championships Saturday, Nov. 10. Game time is 1 p.m. (CT). The Cowgirls are ranked No. 7 in the country, according to the most recent United Soccer Coaches national poll.

Trinity (Tex.) will play against Occidental in the pod's other matchup Saturday. Click HERE for live stats for the Loggers' game against Hardin-Simmons.

Puget Sound's last regular-season game of the season at Linfield (Nov. 4) was a must-win contest for the Loggers. Down 2-0 at halftime, Puget Sound netted three goals in the final 15 minutes of regulation to clinch a share of the Northwest Conference title and the automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. The Loggers hold the tiebreaker over Pacific Lutheran.

The 2018 season began with a couple of games in San Antonio, Texas. The Loggers lost to both Emory and Trinity (Tex.) by 1-0 scores.

The Loggers return to the NCAA Championship for the first time since the 2015 season, when Puget Sound then won its 14th consecutive NWC crown. During that streak, the 2004 Loggers reached the NCAA D-III National Championship game.
