Loggers Split A Pair In Oregon

BEAVERTON, Ore. - After being swept by Lewis & Clark on Friday night, the Puget Sound Loggers picked up a 7-2 win over the George Fox Bruins on Saturday afternoon at Tualatin Hills Tennis Center in Beaverton, Ore.

On Friday night, the Pioneers swept past the Loggers, picking up two of three doubles matches by scores of 8-0 and then earning victories in all six singles matches in straight sets.  The closest match came at the bottom of the lineup as Ashley Dombrow (Lake Forest, Ill/The Ethel Walker School) battled with Maggie Peach in the sixth position before falling, 7-5, 7-6.

On Saturday, the Loggers took the early lead by taking all three doubles matches, including a 9-8 win by Maddie Thiesse (Chanhassen, Minn./Holy Family) and Ada Yu (Salem, Ore./McKay) in the second spot.

In singles play, the Bruins managed to steal wins in the first and fourth positions but the Loggers took care of business in the other four positions to collect the victory.  The closest match came in the second spot as sophomore Madison Holtz (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) earned a 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 win over Mollee Robinson.

The Loggers return to Tacoma on Friday to take on Linfield in their home finale.  Match time with the Wildcats is set for 4:00 p.m.
