TACOMA, Wash. – The No. 11 Puget Sound volleyball team completed a weekend sweep of the Whits with a 25-19, 25-23, 25-18 sweep of Whitworth on Saturday. Jackie Harvey continued to be dominant with 15 kills to go along with 15 digs and two block assists.
Harvey again started hot with five kills in the first set, which paired with Marissa Florant's four kills to lead the Loggers to a set one win. The Loggers also had five service aces in the set, led by Christina Chun's pair of aces.
Chun also finished with a match-high 20 digs. Florant had eight kills and 15 digs.
The Pirates (4-5, 0-2 NWC) challenged the Loggers in the second set and grabbed a late 23-22 lead. However, the Loggers were able to score the final three points of the set to go into the break with a two sets to none lead. Kristin Best tallied five of her seven kills in the set.
The block came out in the third set for the Logger, who had only one block through the first two sets. They tallied four team blocks in the third set alone with Emily Convery recording four block assists to lead the effort at the net.
Nicole Leonard was the Pirates go-to hitter with 13 kills and 18 digs on the night to lead the Pirates. Jalana White also slammed down nine kills.
Jenni Brehove again shined as the Logger setter with 39 assists in the three-set sweep. She also had eight digs.
The Loggers begin a four-match road swing next week when they visit George Fox on Friday and Pacific on Saturday.
