PORTLAND, Ore. – The Puget Sound volleyball team is back on the winning track with a 25-17, 17-25, 25-19, 25-15 win at Lewis & Clark on Friday. Jackie Harvey put down 15 kills and had 17 digs while Jenni Brehove distributed 43 assists.
The Loggers (8-3, 3-1 NWC) also received double digits kills from Jordan Bird and Marissa Florant. Bird had 13 kills on .226 hitting while Florant also turned in a double-double with 11 kills and 18 digs. Brehove also recorded 10 digs for a third double-double for the Loggers.
The Loggers took an early lead in the first set and trailed just once as they cruised to the early lead. With a 13-11 lead, the Loggers went on a seven-point that featured three kills from Nicolette Reynaud and two from Harvey. The run ended with a 20-11 lead and all but sealed the set.
The second set didn't go quite as smoothly as the Loggers hit .045 in the set while Lewis & Clark (2-7, 1-2 NWC) had their best set, hitting .286. Katelaya Milan led the Pioneers in the match with 20 kills and hit .211. Alexe Navarro had 24 digs.
After the break, the Loggers rebounded in the third set as they never trailed in the 25-19 win. After falling behind 3-0 in the fourth set, the Loggers built up a 16-8 lead and continued to push as they came away with their biggest win of the night to clinch the match.
The match was the only match for the Loggers this weekend. Next week, the Loggers will head east to face the Whits. The trip begins with a 7 p.m. match at Whitworth on Friday.
