Loggers fall at Evergreen State, 3-1

TACOMA, Washington – Despite winning the first set by a fair margin, the University of Puget Sound volleyball team lost at Evergreen State on Wednesday night, 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 24-26, 11-25).

The Loggers (1-4) won the first set, 25-19, but Evergreen State answered by winning the second set by the same margin. Puget Sound held a 17-13 edge in the third set, but the Geoducks rallied to even the score, 18-18, en route to a 26-24 victory in the set.

Puget Sound posted a .300 kill-percentage in the first set, but proceeded to hit under .100 in two of the final three sets.
"We had half of a great match tonight," said Puget Sound volleyball coach Mark Massey. "We posted 10 blocks again, and we consistently served Evergreen out of its offense. Unfortunately, they served us out of our offense, as well. Our passing tonight was not near our capabilities."

Emily Convery led the Loggers with 12 kills and Rachael Garrison recorded a team-high 18 digs. Moira McVicar totaled a team-best 17 assists while Kayla Thaller closely followed with 15.

Puget Sound returns to action at the Trinity Fall Classic, which starts Friday, Sept. 12.
