SPOKANE, Wash. – The Puget Sound volleyball team fell to Whitworth, 3-0, in a Northwest Conference matchup on Saturday night.
The Loggers exchanged various points back and forth with the Pirates in the first set, equalizing at 4-4. Whitworth began to pull away leading Puget Sound, 12-6, until the Loggers bounced back and tallied six consecutive points with kills by Rita Dexter and Melanie Siacotos. Puget Sound's hot streak tied up the set, 12-12, but the Pirates prevailed and defeated the Loggers 25-14.
The two teams played a similar second set, recording the same score as the first match, 25-14. Increasing the Loggers deficit to 2-0.
The Pirates remained on top against the Loggers maintaining a consistent lead in the third and final match. The Loggers were able to record nine kills and three more points than their two previous sets, but suffered a 25-17 loss.
Kristen Miguel ended the game with seven kills and Dexter finished with six.
The Loggers return home to face George Fox on Friday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m.
